Which controls do I need?
Thermostatic Valves.... are typically used in the master bath for custom shower with multiple outlets or for large tubs. There are 2 types of thermostatic systems:
a) One thermostat plus a volume control for each outlet. This allows each outlet to be controlled independently, either all at once or one at a time. This system will provide the highest flow rate.
b) One thermostat and one 3-way diverter. All outlets are controlled from this valve and outlets are operated one at a time.
Pressure Balance Mixer valves.... turn the flow on and off and control the water temperature. Typically these controls are used for a single shower head or standard sized bath tub
Combination Valves.... work in the same way as pressure balance valves but have a 2 or 3 way diverter built into the valve. These are typically used for tub/shower or shower head plus hand held combinations where a high flow rate is not necessary
